Retarded Grandparents

This is a story that my mother had told me about. It is so cute that I wanted to share it with you! This could be something that Luke writes in the future (only it would be Texas instead of Florida)!! LOL

RETARDED GRANDPARENTS
(this was actually reported by a teacher)

After Christmas, a teacher asked her young pupils how they spent their holiday away from school. One child wrote the following:
We always used to spend the holidays with Grandma and Grandpa. They used to live in a big brick house but Grandpa got retarded and they moved to Florida. Now they live in a tin box and have rocks painted green to look like grass. They ride around on their bicycles and wear name tags because they don't know who they are anymore. They go to a building called a wreck center, but they must have got it fixed because it is all okay now, they do exercises there, but they don't do them very well. There is a swimming pool too, but they all jump up and down in it with hats on. At their gate, there is a doll house with a little old man sitting in it. He watches all day so nobody can escape. Sometimes they sneak out, and go cruising in their golf carts. Nobody there cooks, they just eat out. And, they eat the same thing every night - -- early birds. Some of the people can't get out past the man in the doll house. The ones who do get out, bring food back to the wrecked center for pot luck. My Grandma says that G randpa worked all his life to earn his retardment and says I should work hard so I can be retarded someday too. When I earn my retardment, I want to be the man in the doll house. Then I will let people out, so they can visit their grandchildren...... PRICELESS

Luke loves his Memaw and Grandpa soooo much!!!

Just a few pics....

Ice Day!!

Today we were out of school for ICE!! And...of course Luke didn't sleep in! He was up at 6:00 to eat. Then he was ready to talk, play and laugh. He was hilarious this morning and it was nice being able to stay home with him. He has taken a couple of naps...very short naps...so, I haven't been able to get a lot done! He has wanted to PLAY!!! He is taking a nap now...I hope he stays there for awhile! He was being a turkey earlier. He was sitting in my lap playing and laughing. Everytime I would get the camera out to take a picture, he would stop! This went on about 10 times and I finally gave up. Everytime he would stop laughing and just stare at the camera! Here are a couple of pictures that I did take...

Finally.....asleep!

Shots :-(

Today Luke had his 2 month checkup and shots. It was NOT fun! The dr. visit took forever, so he started to get a little fussy laying on the table for so long. After Dr. Hunke talked to us and told us how great Luke was doing, it was time for the nurse. I had to hold Luke's arms down (because she said he had long arms and would grab the shot!). He SCREAMED bloody murder when she stuck him with the needle. Thank goodness she was fast...but, still....2 shots in one leg and 1 in the other (and an oral one that he took like a trooper!). I felt so bad. I couldn't get him to calm down after the shots. I finally had to just let him continue to scream while I got him dressed again. Poor thing! Maybe next time I can talk Memaw and Grandpa into coming and taking him!
On a good note...he was weighed and measured! Luke now weighs 11 lbs 15 oz (just an ounce shy of 12 lbs!) and is 23 inches long. He is a growing boy! Dr. Hunke said that around 12 lbs is when they start sleeping more hours through the night! Hallelujah!!! Although, he does a good job at night...he usually only wakes Mommy up once!
Here is a picture of him worn out after his shots. Poor thing!

Visit to Memaw & Grandpa's

Well...we survived our first road trip together...alone!! Luke was really good in the car. On the trip down he slept almost the whole way. He woke up with about an hour left and with about 30 minutes left he started screaming (and of course there was no where to pull over)! Memaw kept calling to see where we were and she was waiting outside to immediately take her little man out of the car when we pulled in. She immediately found out why he was fussy....nasty diaper!!
Saturday morning we got up and Memaw went to show off Luke to all her friends. He enjoyed being in his stoller like a big boy. That afternoon Luke stayed with Memaw while Mommy went with Grandpa to watch him in the Beltsander Races. Yes, it is a redneck thing from south Texas! Unfortunately, it started raining and the races were cancelled. I'll tell you that he had the best looking one there (even though, it was a stupid Florida Gators theme). That evening we just hung out at the house.
Sunday morning we got up and Luke went to church for the first time. He did very good. Towards the end, during the singing, he decided to sing! Then, he decided he needed to talk and let everyone know he was there! The old people aren't used to having a little one around! After church, we changed clothes and went to the beach!! It was a beautiful day. Grandpa and I walked out a ways in the water with Luke...it was nice and warm! Luke even enjoyed kicking his feet in the water. Unfortately, the video Memaw was supposed to be taking of Luke in the water...well...let's just say, it ended up being a video of her feet! (Blame it on the bright sun shining and she couldn't see the screen).
Monday it was time to come back to Dallas. We did go strolling around downtown Rockport for a little bit. Then, we said our goodbyes and got on the road. Luke was great coming back. He woke up about 3 hours before we made it home, so I stopped and feed him and changed him. We were back on the road and he was asleep again. It was a very long trip...but, we had a blast. We are ready to go back on spring break and enjoy more of the warm sun and play in the water!!

Road Trip & Videos

Luke and I are going to take a road trip this weekend! He has been to Okla several times and has done wonderful in the car...he sleeps the whole way! But, this weekend it will be just Luke and I and it will be a 6 hour car ride. We are going to Rockport to visit Memaw and Grandpa for the long weekend! Pray that we have a safe trip and that Luke does good in the car! Luke is ready to see his Memaw and Grandpa...he misses them very much. Everytime I ask him if he wants to go visit them...he smiles so BIG and laughs!!
Also...I have been taking a few videos of Luke (mainly so Memaw can see him). I don't want to post them all on here because they take too long to upload and I don't want to bore everyone, so I have found a FREE video hosting website that I can download videos and pictures!! If you want to download videos for other to view, www.dropshots.com is a great website. And...if you would like to check out videos of Luke (and watch him grow), the link is http://www.dropshots.com/melissawilson75. Save it and check back, as I update it!

Misc. Pics!

Here are just a few pictures that I've taken over the past few days of my little man. I can't believe how much he is growing!

Look-A-Likes

This weekend as I was holding Luke on my lap and playing with him...I realized something. Well, I guess I've always realized it, but this weekend it was more prominent! I've known since my 3D sonogram in Aug. that Luke has my nose. Well, this weekend, I realized how much he looks like my baby pictures (eyes, nose and mouth!)! See for yourself...

Babysitter

Today is Luke's first day with the babysitter. Of course it's raining and cold and I had to get my poor baby out in this weather. Luke was a little fussy when we got there, but I think it was because I had to wake him up to get him dressed. Mrs. Caren held him and he stopped crying...he was actually asleep in her arms when I left! We both did very good!! I can't wait until 3:30, so I can go and get my baby!!!

2 Months Old

Can you believe that Luke is 2 months old today? I can't!! Where has the time gone?? It really does seem like yesterday we were coming home from the hospital. I can't believe how much he has grown this past month. I've tried to weigh him and I think he weighs about 10 lbs now. And, a few weeks ago, my Dad tried to measure him and he was about 22 inches (we will know more accurately when we go to the Dr. in a few weeks). He has outgrown a lot of his clothes and is now wearing 3-6 month! Here is his picture with the sock monkey (remember, I'm going to take it on the 2nd of each month to see how much he's grown!)....
