Luke's 1st Thanksgiving!

Today is Luke's first holiday...Thanksgiving!! He enjoyed some turkey, yummy stuffing, mashed potatoes and corn...and then topped it off with some pecan pie for dessert! Just kidding...he celebrated his first Thanksgiving with several bottles of formula...yum! Luke and his mommy are very thankful, not only on Thanksgiving, but everyday for his wonderful Memaw and Grandpa...they are the best anyone could ask for! We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and got to spend time with family and friends. Happy Thanksgiving!!

Luke's Christmas Stocking!

I ordered Luke his 1st Christmas stocking and today it came in the mail!! It is the cutest thing ever!! (I sure hope he likes sports!) I ordered it from www.PersonalizationMall.com (thanks Natalie...I saw this website on your blog!). This site has lots of really neat stuff...I also ordered my Dad's Christmas present from them! Check it out when you have time...

First Bath

Today Luke got his first "real" bath! He has been getting sponged off for the past 2 weeks, while we waited for his umbilical cord to fall off. It finally fell off!! Luke didn't like the bath very much. I bought this little frog...that is laying on him...you're supposed to get it wet and then lay it on the baby. It is supposed to help keep the baby warm while you are bathing them...and for boys...it's supposed to help you to not get "sprinkled on". I don't know if it worked very well or not....it seemed to get cold fast. I'll try it the next time he gets a bath and see if it works any better. Here are a few pictures from his first bath.

Luke's first Dr. appt.

Luke had his first appt. with Dr. Hunke today. When we left the hospital Luke weighed 6lbs. 2 oz. and today Luke weighs 7lbs. 2oz. He gained a pound since we left the hospital! Dr. Hunke said everything looked good and he was "perfect"....but, I already knew that! I loved the Dr....he went over everything he was doing with me and made me feel very at ease. We don't go back until his 2 month checkup.

Luke is 2 weeks old!

Here are a few new pictures that have been taken in the last few days. Luke is still a perfect baby...rarely cries...only when he's hungry or dirty. He has his first dr. appt. tomorrow. I can't wait to see how much weight he's gained since we left the hospital.

Busy!

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days...it's been busy around here...and not much to report. Luke is still the perfect baby. He rarely cries, only when he's dirty or hungry. He has pretty much gotten on a schedule of eating every 4 hours, so he only gets up once in the night (he eats at 11PM and then again at 3AM and then at 7AM, etc)....yeah!! Yesterday he had to go back to the hospital for his 2nd newborn screening. He barely cried when they pricked his little heal...but, did cry a little when they were squeezing his foot to get some blood out. He was a great little patient! I can't wait for him to go to the pediatrician next week to find out how much weight he's gained and to ask questions. Between the questions I have and Memaw has, they better be ready! This weekend Luke is getting more visitors from Okla. His Great Grandma, Great Aunt and some cousins are coming to meet him. He is hoping that his Aunt Heather comes back to see him, too! I'll try to post some new pictures of him soon.

Pics

Here are a few pictures of Luke

Company!!

What a weekend! Luke had lots of company this weekend. "Aunt" Heather, Sonya and Kourtney all came down from Oklahoma to meet Luke. Sonya and Kourtney came over to visit for a few hours on Friday and Saturday. We had a good time talking, catching up on everyone, and I got lots of good advice on being a mommy. The girls had fun meeting Luke...holding him, changing him and feeding him. "Aunt" Heather spent the night with us! She bought Luke several sleepers and a wipe warmer! She didn't like him getting his butt wiped with a cold wipe. :) "Aunt" Heather got to feed Luke several times and change many dirty diapers over the weekend! Thanks girls for such a great visit. I wish we all lived closer and could do it more often. Here are a few pictures from their visits...

Luke's first night at home!

Yeah...we finally got out of the hospital! I was released to go pretty early, but we had to wait on the pediatrician to come in and release Luke. Finally...at 5:00 we got to go home. I was worried about our first night, especially after a c-section, but I hope all nights are like last night. If so, I have the perfect baby! I put Luke to bed around 9:00 and knew that he would be ready for his next feeding at 11:00 (he had ate around 7:30). I had to wake him up to feed him and change his diaper....I put him back down and he went right back to sleep until his 3:00 feeding. At his 3:00 feeding, his Grandpa said it was "his shift"! He got Luke out of his cradle and took him in to change his diaper...which was dirty!...and then fed him. He is one proud Grandpa. I just sat there and talked to my dad, while I made sure he remembered to burp Luke (and that he heard the burp!). We put him back to bed and he slept until he was ready to eat around 6:30. He never cried the whole night!! Let's hope it happens again tonight! Here are a few more pics...

Mommy had a rough night!

Luke is doing great! He seems to be a happy baby...he eats, sleeps and poops! He had an IV in his arm and was getting some antibiotics because I had a fever when he was born. All of his tests came back great today, so the IV is gone...yeah!
Yesterday afternoon/last night wasn't so great for mommy. I had some really bad acid reflux at the end of my pregnancy and we think that might have been part of the problem. I couldn't keep anything down and was feeling horrible. They finally gave me more medicine and hooked me back up to the IV (yuck). I was out at 8:15 and didn't wake up until 4:00 this morning! I could barely wake up the few times they needed me to take some pills during the night or get my temp! I woke up feeling lots better! I have been up moving around and taking care of Luke...yippee!!
I don't have any new pics today (plus Grandpa already left with the camera), but I will definately update some in the next day or two.

Luke has arrived!

Luke Michael has finally arrived! I was scheduled to be induced on Sun night the 2nd, but he didn't want to wait! I began having some contractions on Sat. afternoon/evening, but I didn't really know that was what was going on. I went to bed and a few hours later woke up and was having some pains. I waited about 20 minutes and after having them pretty regular, I went and woke up my mom. We tried timing them, but she wasn't very successful. I was having them about every 3-5 minutes...I was ready to go to the hospital. I finally talked everyone into going to the hospital. Since it was right around the time change, I'm not sure exactly when we got the the hospital....it was around 1:30 AM, but I don't know if that was before or after we changed the clocks! Once they got me hooked up and checked I was dilated to a 4. I was in some pain from the contractions, but made it! They brought me my epidural not too long after that and I never felt anymore pain!! By 4:30 AM, I was dilated to a 7, but I never progressed after that. So....the Dr. on call decided a c-section would be a good idea. At that point, I was ready. So....Luke was born by c-section at 9:42 AM. He weighed 6 lbs 6 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. He had a little bit of a problem breathing, so they kept him in the nursery for awhile to monitor him. But...everything is great now!! Mom and Dad think he looks just like I did when I was a baby. They are both very excited to have their newest grandson here!! Here are a few pictures of him....
