Once again I took Luke for some pictures. I was trying to do some cowboy pictures, but I couldn't find a small saddle to borrow...so we just went with his hat! The photographer that I've been using is amazing! He got some really good pictures of Luke.

Mother's Day

As I've said before, I have the best job ever...being Luke's mommy! As a little girl (and a young adult), all I ever wanted was to be a mommy. I had the best role model and wanted to be just like her (thanks mom!)! Three years ago, my dream came true and God chose me to Luke's mommy. It's getting harder to get pictures with Luke, so this was the best I could get!

Easter at the Zoo

I forgot to post this picture with the Easter pics. Here is my Easter Bunny!After church, we ate a yummy lunch that Mimi cooked for us....ham, potato salad, baked beans and deviled eggs! We then loaded up and headed to the Ft. Worth Zoo. This year was fun because Luke was more interested in the animals. And...the Zoo was having a dinosaur thing going on, so there were BIG dinosaurs scattered throughout the zoo. I don't have many pictures because Papa took most of them and they are on his camera. :( Here are what were on my phone.

Luke's Easter

This year Luke got to dye and decorate Easter eggs!! He thought it was pretty cool.

He woke up on Easter morning and was a little tired, so it took him a little while to figure out the Easter Bunny had came. Once, he saw his overflowing basket...he was EXCITED!!

Man...it's been a long time since I've posted on here. I can't believe how busy life has been the past few months. Luke and I have enjoyed having Mimi and Papa here this winter. We are going to be sad when they leave for Ohio in a few weeks. But...Luke will have swimming lessons twice a week in May to keep us busy. And, then in June we will be heading to Ohio!!!
We hope everyone has a wonderful Easter weekend with their family. Remember the reason for Easter...it's not the bunny!

Yee Haw!

Ever since we took Luke to the rodeo (and of course watching Woody), Luke thinks he's a cowboy! He loves to ride his horse and wave his cowboy hat in the air while yelling "yee haw!". Last night, he even had to wear his cowboy hat to bed!! Here are a couple of videos of him...

Ft. Worth Stock Show & Rodeo

Yesterday, we took Luke to the Ft. Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. He was all dressed in his cowboy gear and looking quite handsome! I had never been before and couldn't believe how much it was like the fair....tons of games, food and rides! Luke and Papa went down the BIG SLIDE! Luke absolutely loves slides!

After the slide, we went over to see some animals. Luke loves him some farm animals!! I was really surprised when he wanted to ride the horse. Again, he had the biggest smile and was so happy riding! I asked him if he wanted Papa to buy him a horse and he said "yes!"!!

We also went to the rodeo. I was really afraid that Luke would get restless and not want to sit. And, it was right around his nap time. But, he was sooo good!! He sat in his own seat during the whole rodeo and watched the whole thing! A few times, he got sleepy and would lay his head on me....but, I was so proud of how he did!! He loves seeing the "moo moo's" and would ask where they were if they weren't in the arena at that time. Maybe I've got a cowboy on my hands?!?

Wildlife Refuge

After Christmas we went to Okla. for a few days. I wanted to take Luke out to the Wichita Wildlife Refuge to see if we could see any animals. I also wanted to take him up Mt. Scott and then on to Meers for lunch.

We stopped at the visitors center first and looked around. Luke had fun seeing all the animals....he didn't know they were stuffed!! Ha! We left and went to Mt. Scott....only for it to be closed!! We have no idea why it was close...the weather was nice and clear. I was sad! So, we went on and ate lunch at Meer's. If you've never been...GO!! It's yummy! After lunch, we decided to go to Holy City and look around. Luke got to see several prairie dogs along the way! Check out our day....

Here's a funny story....Luke loves to sing. Every Sunday at church, he runs into the sanctuary to sing. We went in the doors of the chapel and Luke took off to the center isle. He ran up the isle--who cares that there were chains across, saying "keep out"--and gets on the pulpit and starts singing!!! He knew exactly where he was! Watch out...we might have a music minister on our hands!

I know...I'm a little late! I planned on getting my blog up to date last week and only got 2 posts done.

We had such a fun Christmas this year with Luke. He really "got into" the whole idea of Santa. He calls Santa "Ro Ro" because he can't say Ho, Ho, Ho and in turns, thinks that is Santa's name. He woke up on Christmas and saw all of his wonderful gifts. His favorite things were the basketball goal and the guitar! Of course, after we got all of our gifts opened, we had to play with everything!! Here are a few pictures of Christmas morning at our house!

Cookies for Santa

Luke loves helping....it doesn't matter if it's raking leaves, sweeping the floor, doing laundry or cooking! So...I thought he would enjoy making cookies for Santa. And...he did! Lots of Updates
I can't believe how long it's been since I've blogged and shared pictures! I guess you can tell we've been busy! I'll try and make several posts instead of one HUGE one!

Luke and I made a Gingerbread house. He thought it was lots of fun!! I think his favorite part was eating the candy. I think he would put a piece on, eat a piece, put a piece on, eat a piece....you get the idea!!

Not too bad for a 2 year old!

We also took Luke to see some Christmas lights. He sat in the front seat with Papa and just watched out the window (and hung out the window some!). He loved them. They also had some rides there. Luke rode the Carousel three times...once with Mommy, once with Mimi, and once with Papa. We also got him to ride the Dizzy Dragons (Tilt O'Whirl). We thought he would be a little scared...but, NO. He laughed so much on the ride. If the line wouldn't have been so long, we'd have rode again!

Breakfast with Santa

This past Saturday, a good friend and I hosted Breakfast with Santa for a few friends and their children. It was a lot of fun seeing the kiddos in their jammies and waiting for Santa to arrive. I'm not sure a lot of them realized what was going on...until Santa rang the doorbell! I was kinda worried about how Luke would do. As soon as Santa came in, Luke came running to me scared! He had me pick him up, but then he wanted to shake Santa's hand. After Santa visited and started pulling gifts out of his bag, Luke wasn't as scared. Actually, he was quite funny. He kept inching closer and closer to Santa, waiting for his name to be called. At one point, he even pointed at himself and said his name because he wanted Santa to call it. Once Santa called his name, he couldn't get to him fast enough as he came running around the couch! I'm so glad that Luke (and all of the kids--and their parents)enjoyed it. I'm ready for next years! Here are a few pictures that I took.

I have been a big time bad blogger!! Here are a few pictures from last week.

Mommy and Luke at Holiday on the Hill for the Christmas tree lighting.

Luke and Mommy with Santa. Luke wouldn't sit by himself, but he didn't scream and cry! He shook Santa's hand and kept saying "Ro-Ro". If you ask Luke what Santa say's, he will tell you "Ro, Ro, Ro". He can't say Ho, Ho, Ho. Therefore, he thinks Santa is Ro-Ro. I think it's pretty darn cute! :) He gets so excited when he sees a picture of Santa or sees him on tv.

This one is kinda hard to see. If you look close, you can see Luke and I coming down the big slide! He loved it!! He even talked his Papa into taking him down it again!Luke was looking at the lollipop ornament...thinking..."hmm, maybe I should eat this!" Luke was "pretending to be asleep" and waiting on Santa! Luke's 2nd birthday party was a success!! He had several friends come and celebrate with him (thank you Aunt Sue for driving all the way from Okla for his party!). The kids played on his new swing set, drove each other around in his car, played with the bean bags and ate cupcakes. Everything was great...until...the swarm of the BEE's!! We had to move the party inside once the bee's smelled the cake! Here are a few pictures of the party (ok...so, there are a lot of pictures!)!

I'm a few days late...

Luke turned 2 on Tuesday. I can't believe he's growing up so fast! I made some Elmo cupcakes for his friends at Daycare and then we went to Chuck E. Cheese for a little fun that evening. This weekend we are having his Elmo birthday party!! Here are a few pictures of my 2 year old!!

Trick-or-Treat

Luke dressed like a Hobo this year for Halloween. I loved his costume and was excited to get so many compliments on it! :) He only went to a few houses around the neighborhood. We went to the church Trunk-or-Treat before hand and he loaded up on the candy. If they let him pick out his candy, he always took suckers. I think we have a million suckers at home!!Of course, he found the games that involved balls....or throwing things!!!His favorite part of the night was the bounce house! He jumped right along with the big kids. I was afraid he was going to get hurt, but he held his ground! He loved it!!

Big Boy Bed!

I bought Luke a big boy bed while we were in Ohio this summer. It was exactly what I wanted and cheap...so I bought it. But, it was black and wouldn't go with his room, so Papa sanded it down and painted it navy blue. It looks so good with his bedding...I LOVE IT! Last night, Papa and I were putting it together. Luke kept pointing and telling us "night, night". After we got it finished and all of the bedding on it, Luke climbed in. He didn't want to get out! Luke slept all night in his big boy bed!!! I can't believe he is growing up!

He kept pulling the covers back on him, when I would pull them off!This is how I found him this morning!

Weekend in Okla

This past weekend we went to Okla to visit some family and friends. I didn't get a lot of pictures, but I will share what I did take! :) On Friday we went to Central (Mommy's high school) for Homecoming. Luke wasn't too interested in watching the girls in their dresses....but, he sure had fun playing in the gravel and throwing rocks! During the game we stood in the end zone (which was where the scoring was going on) and he stood there and watched the boys, kept saying "ball" and was clapping! It was tooo cute!

The rest of the weekend we just visited with family and friends. It was a very good weekend, but we were both exhausted and glad to be home!

Luke was in Elmo heaven a few nights ago. He got his new "Elmo's World BALLS" book and his personalized Elmo cd (that sings his name throughout) in the mail. And to top it off, he received a package from Papa and Memaw of Elmo pajamas!! Can I just tell you that my boy LOVES Elmo!!!

Baseball Player...

Luke's favorite thing to do it play ball. I told my parents this weekend, that sometimes I feel like I'm living with my brother again! Luke has discovered that he can throw the ball against the wall and it will come back to him....I remember hearing that sound way too many times growing up!! :) At least he hasn't figured out how to lay on his back and throw it into the air....yet!
Here are a few pictures of Luke hitting the ball off his teeball stand. I have never showed him how to hold the bat. He just automatically picks it up (EVERYTIME) with his hands correct and turned to bat LEFT HANDED! I guess we'll see soon enough if he's going to be a lefty or a righty.

Grandparent's Day!

Luke has absolutely the best Grandparents in the WORLD!!! He is the luckiest little boy! He truly loves his Memaw and Papa! :) He still can't quite say Memaw and sometimes he says Nana...who care which one, just decide and start calling her something!! But, he definately has the word Papa down!! That is one of his favorite words and daily he says it (over and over!)! He is a Papa's boy! He lights up when he hears his Papa on the phone.

This morning we made a sign and colored on it for Grandparent's Day. It was a lot more difficult to get him to sit still and hold the sign, now that he is almost 2! Here are a few of the pictures I did get.

Mini Vacay!

Luke and I went to visit Memaw and Papa over the Labor Day weekend. It was a very short trip, but it was worth it. Luke misses his Papa very much! We are already looking forward to them coming back down south for the winter! Here are a few pictures to tell about our weekend.

Well, we've been quite busy since returning from Ohio. I had 2 workshops, so Memaw came back with us to keep Luke. We have had a great time having her here...too bad she is leaving tomorrow. I know Grandpa is excited that she is coming home!
Last weekend, we went to dinner with a friend from Houston that was visiting. Lacy has a little boy, Julian that is a month younger than Luke. Aren't they the cutest little boys?This past weekend, we went to Oklahoma. We had a great time visiting family...I just wish we would have had more time to see some friends! Here is a picture of Luke with his Memaw and Great Grandma.

Luke loves my iPhone. I don't let him play with it much because I'm afraid he'll break it! But...being an early childhood teacher, I was introduced to many educational toddler games this past week at my workshop. I downloaded a few for Luke. He loves one of the counting games. We're Back!!

Have you missed us? I feel so horrible that I haven't posted in over a month! We left for vacation on June 8 and returned July 14!! We spent our vacation with Memaw and Grandpa in Ohio. 19 month old Monkey...

**I'm finally posting this from a few days ago. I had a video to upload with it and for some reason, it won't download.

Last night I about had a heart attack! Luke had been playing in his room for awhile. It got quite, so I knew he was probably into something. I then heard what I thought sounded like his cross on the wall banging. I go in to find he has climbed the changing table!! He was standing on top, taking things out of the shelves (lotion, rash cream, nail clippers, etc.) and had taken the cross of the wall! I immediately took him down and he climbed right back up. As soon as I would get him down, he would get back up...laughing the whole time! After about the fourth time, I decided to get it on video! In the video he has a little trouble getting up there, but trust me, he didn't have ANY trouble the other times!! I'm sure this is the start of many things he will be climbing. And, I'm sure a few broken bones will be in his future!!
**UPDATE**Luke loves to climb on the changing table. I think it's his new favorite thing to do. I finally had to put the baby gate up so he can't go in his room. I tried to just shut the door, but the handle is real sensitive and all he has to do is barely turn the handle and it opens!

Swimming

Today we went out for a little swim. Last year Luke loved the water. This time, he was a little scared of it...at first. I put him in and he started to whimper...not cry! I sat him on the slide and he was okay with that. I played catch with the balls and then he saw the penguin swimming. He wanted it and I told him to get it. So, he got down and went after it! After that...it was all over....he LOVED the water, again! He loved going up and down the slide. He would get up there and sit down and when I said "GO", he would say "GO" and slide down. Then he would keep saying "I go" until he got back to the steps and would go down again! Here are a few pictures and a short video. I can't wait until we get to Memaw and Grandpa's and watch him in the water there.

Big Boy Haircut

I took Luke to get his 1st "real" big boy haircut. Yes, I know, he already had his curls cut off. And, he really didn't need a haircut. I just couldn't stand the long curls that were sticking out on the sides of his head! So, this afternoon I took him to "Cool Cuts 4 Kids". I was so worried that he would scream and cry and I would have to hold him. He sat right down and never even shed a tear! He even laughed when the trimmers were tickling him! He looks so handsome with his big boy haircut!!

I think he has his finger in his mouth in every picture because he's feeling his tooth that is just coming through. He now has 16 teeth!!

I have the most amazing job in the world....being Luke's Mommy!! I looked forward to being a mommy for so long and thankfully, a year and a half ago that dream came true. I am truly blessed to have Luke in my life. On this day I also have to thank my wonderful mom. She has been such a wonderful example for me. Luke and I are blessed to have her in our lives. Here are just a few random pictures that I happen to take the past week or so of Luke. 18 months old!

I can't believe Luke is 18 month old! He is such a BOY!! He has NO fear and thinks he can climb on anything!! He LOVES being outside and would probably live in his swing, if you'd let him. He is talking more. He now says....momma, grandpa, memaw (which sounds a lot like maw maw), ball, baseball, door, bye bye, hello, hi, bath, juice, cracker, cookie, bite, nana--for banana, (that's all I can think of at this moment...I know I'm leaving out a bunch!). He is wearing size 4 diapers and wears 24 month shirts and 18 month shorts and size 6 shoes! Luke can also show you the following body parts: nose, mouth, tongue, ears, eyes, teeth, belly and belly button! If you ask where he is, he immediately covers his eyes and plays peek-a-boo. Also, if he hears clapping or sees anyone clapping, he thinks he must do it, too!

Weekend in Oklahoma

This past weekend we took off with Memaw and Grandpa and went to visit family and friends in Oklahoma. Luke has had a really runny nose and a bad cough, but that didn't stop him from having fun! I figured it was just allergies and gave him benadryl, but that didn't seem to help. (He went to the dr. this morning....poor guy has a double ear infection!) We had a great time seeing lots of old friends at church on Sunday. Too bad Luke wouldn't cooperate and sit in church! Mommy had to take him outside....so, we played! Thankfully, mommy's best friend, Sonya came outside and kept us company after she played the organ! Most of the weekend was hanging out at Great Aunt Sue's house with all of the family. Too bad mommy didn't get the camera out and take any pictures!
Monday we headed out to where mommy went to school and where Memaw worked. Luke immediately saw all of the kids on the playground and thought he needed to join them. I swear, that boy will spend all day and night outside if he could! After the kids went inside, Grandpa took him out to play. Here are a few pictures of him playing on the playground...

Easter

Today was a great day!! We woke up and found the Easter Bunny had visited our house. Luke got a basket with a few goodies...some hot wheels, chocolate and cute baseball shoes! Grandpa made us his wonderful omelets and then we headed to church. After church, we ate lunch at home before heading off to the Ft. Worth Zoo. Grandpa bought Luke a bunny cake for dessert!Luke loved watching the white tiger walking in front of him. He kept waving at him!!Luke took the stick of food from me and starting feeding the bird himself! After I got the bird to stand on the stick, Luke tried to grab the bird and hold him!! He thought the peguins swimming up to him were cool!Probably his favorite thing of the day...riding the carousel!!! Look at that smile!We all had a great time at the zoo! I hope this can become a tradition for us each Easter!

Pink Eye!!! Our house has been infected with Pink Eye!! I woke up on Wed. with a red eye. I wasn't sure if it was pink eye or not, so I went on the work and had the nurse look at it. She didn't think it was pink eye, but everyone else did. Luckily, the Dr. could get me in on my break and sure enough....Pink Eye! Of course, Luke woke up yesterday morning with it. He looks miserable. His eye is mostly red underneath and looks like he's been beat up. He has tons of goop coming out and it keeps matting up. He has medicine and hopefully his will be clear this afternoon.

Since he hasn't been on the eye drops for 24 hours, I decided to keep him home from babysitter again today (luckily Memaw and Grandpa came yesterday). I didn't want anyone else getting it! But, since he stayed home, he's missing Easter with his friends. :( I did take cupcakes to the babysitter, since I had already made them. I think they turned out pretty cute!!

Spring Break 2010!!

We are back from Spring Break!! I can't believe how fast the week flew by (how come when we're at work, the week drags on, but on vacation it flies by??). We were busy the entire spring break and enjoyed our visit with Memaw and Grandpa!
We flew into Corpus Christi on Sat. the 13th. We went to eat and then headed to Whataburger Field to watch the OU Sooners play baseball!!

On Sunday, it was so beautiful that we headed to the beach. Luke went straight to the water, took 2 steps in and started crying. The water was too cool for him and he wasn't a fan! But...he sure did like the sand. He probably still has sand in his ears!!

On Monday, we headed to the park to play. Luke loves being outside. He also found a new love...the slide!! He had so much fun going down the big slides by himself!!

On Tueday, it was rainy. We headed to Victoria to do a little shopping. Of course, Luke was the only one that got anything!On Wednesday, Mommy and Grandpa went fishing!! Mommy caught 5 fish and Grandpa only caught 1 fish!! It was cool out on the boat, but it was a nice and relaxing time. After we got home, we went to the park!

On Thursday, we went back to the beach! The water was a little warmer, but I think Luke remembered from the previous time and wasn't about to put his feet in the water!! He doesn't know what he's missing! I'm sure when he gets back in the pool this summer, he will love it just like before!

On Friday, we went to another beach!! We took a ferry across to Port Aransas. We went to the candy store and a few souvenier shops. We then rented an electric car/buggy and took a drive down the beach. It was a little windy, so that made it cool! After lunch, we took Luke to a ceramics shop to paint a fish as a souvenier. We had to leave it to be "fired". I can't wait to get it back!!!

Luke has, or I should say had, the cutest little curls in the back. But...at times they were getting a little out of control....can you say frizzy!?!? So, Ms. Tanya cut it all off! Luke has become Mr. Independent! He has to walk out of the house by himself and he has to try and climb up in the car by himself (a big ole' Tahoe, which he has finally mastered!). He has to walk in to Ms. Caren's every morning and walk out every afternoon (and lately, he's been wanting to carry his own bag). If you try and carry him--forget it!!! He will throw a fit! This morning, he HAD to "carry" (aka...drag!) his own bag in as he went. This is what I saw from behind...my precious little boy is growing up!

We have been very fortunate to have been given some hand me downs. A parent at school has been doing some "spring" cleaning and getting rid of soooo many toys (and clothes, too). A few of the things have been a Radio Flyer car, a ride on zebra and a rocking horse!! Luke is in love with riding the horsey! He will get on it, with his cup in hand, and start bouncing up and down like crazy.....sometimes, I think he is going to buck himself off!! This was pretty funny. The other morning Luke was eating some cereal for breakfast. He had a measuring spoon that I had given him to play with awhile back. He realized it was a spoon and was trying to eat his cereal with it! When he couldn't get the cereal on the end, he would pick up the cereal and place it on the end...pretty smart kid! All that work for nothing though because as he got it to his mouth and turned it to put it in, the cereal fell out!

Happy Valentine's Day from Luke and Mommy! We are staying home and relaxing today...and watching the Daytona 500! Luke got a few goodies this morning from me....some baseball Mickey pajama's, a chocolate marshmallow heart, book, choc. chip cookie and a sucker! I feel like I never get to update you on Luke anymore. It is amazing how fast he is growing and all of the new things he is doing. Luke had his 15 month check up this past week. He is now weighing in at 24 lbs and 32 inches. He is saying "mom, hi, hot (when he points to the stove), this (as he is pointing to something he wants!), shoe and juice. My little man loves to dance...he starts grooving when he hears any type of music. Sometimes he will clap, too!! It's hysterical! Luke loves to play with his cars and push them around the floor. Yes, here in Texas, we have SNOW!!! And, I'm not just talking a few inches of ugly snow...we have lots of beautiful white snow EVERYWHERE!!! The news reported we got 11 inches in our town...I'm going to go and measure later when Luke and I go out to play! We played for awhile when we got home yesterday...Luke loves the snow! Today we are going to attempt going in the front yard and build a snowman. We will see how that goes...I'll post pics later. But, for now, here are some pictures of the snow and a few videos.

I have been horrible about updating and posting pictures lately. It's so hard to find time! I can't get on the computer when Luke is awake because he wants to beat on the keyboard and when he goes to sleep...I'm too exhausted to get on the computer! Hopefully I can start doing a little better! There isn't a lot of exciting news to report. Luke is still Mr. Daredevil and has no fear. He will climb on anything and try to walk across the couch or recliner....very scary for momma! He has learned how to scream. He thinks it's hilarious...he will just scream at the top of his lungs, laugh, and then do it again. I sure hope the neighbors can't hear him! :) Here are several pictures of my little man (sorry for the bad quality on a lot of them...they were taken with my phone).

Luke the Ghost

Last night Luke thought it was hilarious to put his blanket over his head and walk around! Of course, he couldn't see where he was going and kept running into walls! He would hit a wall...or a toy...fall down, start laughing, get up and do it all again! He was walking around the whole house like this. He did this for at least 10-15 minutes. I tried to get some pictures, but they were blurry because he kept moving! I finally got a few seconds of it on video. Check out my funny little ghost...

Luke has been doing a few other cute things lately. He has started saying "uh-oh" and will do peek-a-boo by himself. Luke knows where his nose is, his belly and his shoes (although, he won't do it on video!). He has also said "grandpa" a few times. Well, we've made it the first few days without Memaw and Grandpa...it's been really hard, but we've made it! And...we survived our first day back to work/babysitter after the long holiday. It was soooo hard to leave Luke this morning, a lot harder than it was a year ago. Today marked 1 year since he has been going to Ms. Caren! :) I'm so thankful to have found a wonderul home babysitter...and...she's just down the street from my school!
Since Memaw and Grandpa are gone...I've gotta start with all the pictures again, so they can see their little man. I hope you don't mind!

Before I begin...my child (like all others, I'm sure) is obsessed with buttons! He found the Directv box awhile back and would push the button to change channels, but after a few minutes would leave them alone. Well, over the weekend, he found the tv buttons. He kept turning the thing on and off. The more I would tell him NO, the more he would laugh and head straight for the buttons again. STINKER!! I decided to let him turn it off and we just wouldn't watch tv. That didn't work either because he turned it on and off about 50 times in probably 10 seconds...I thought the tv was going to blow up! I smacked his hand, told him NO, and eventually put him in "baby jail" (aka pack n play). I found some guards online and went and purchased them the next day! Success!!! He hasn't been able to mess with the tv since!!

It's a sad day at our house. Memaw and Grandpa left! We have enjoyed having them stay with us for the past few months and don't know what we are going to do without them! Yes, I said, past few months! Memaw and Grandpa came in for Luke's 1st birthday and were having work done on their Fifth Wheel (their HOME!) while they were here. Well, it took 6 weeks to get it fixed and by then, it was time for Christmas! So, they planned on leaving right after Christmas and wouldn't you know it...things just kept happening to keep them here a little longer. First, my car broke down...then, Uncle Bubba came in for a visit...then, the charger was dead on the Fifth Wheel. Finally, they got everything loaded and headed out for South Texas this morning. Please pray they have a safe trip today. We are already looking forward to them coming back...SOON!!
Thanks Mom for all of the wonderful meals you cooked and all of the cleaning you did while you were here. Thank you Dad for fixing my car and all of the other things that you fixed around here!! I'm sure you are both glad to be in your OWN home again! But...what in the world will you do without Luke trying to climb in your lap to eat your food or drink your drink?? At least you won't have to hide the "gene stick" (aka...the remote control) from Columbo!!!

Yesterday we got a wonderful surprise!! Memaw, Grandpa, Luke and I were at Walmart when Uncle Bubba called (he lives in Biloxi, for those of you who don't know). He was talking to Grandpa and I heard Grandpa ask him where he was and what he was doing. Luke and I walked on to the Christmas section to see if we could find any deals. Memaw joined us a few minutes later and was talking to Uncle Bubba. After they hung up, I asked what he wanted. She said he had dropped off Holly to do some shopping and he was driving around with the boys. A few minutes later, the phone rang (Grandpa's phone..which Memaw had from talking to Uncle Bubba) and it said "Bubba" was calling. When Memaw answered I heard her tell them that we were in the Christmas section. When she hung up, she said "That was weird. It said "Bubba", but it was your dad on the phone". We kinda looked at each and said "Do you think they...meaning Bubba and the boys...are here?" We both said "no" and dismissed the idea. Memaw decided to look down the long aisle and didn't see anyone. After a few more seconds, I asked again..."do you think they are here?". Then, of course, I got excited and emotional and started to get teary eyed thinking that my brother could be here!! She thought she could see him coming down the aisle...so, I threw down all the things I was looking at and decided to look for myself. And...way down the aisle...I could see my brother's head above everyone else's!!! I was sooo excited. I could not believe that my brother and his boys were surprising us!!!

Luke didn't sleep very good last night...it must have been all the excitement of Santa coming! Luke woke up about 7:00 AM and was up for good. He walked into the living room to find that Santa had came and brought lots of gifts!
This is the tree after "Santa" came...Luke got a ball pit/slide, a Mega Block table, puzzle and a caterpillar learning toy from Santa. He also got a John Deere Buck and a HUGE teddy bear!! And...that's not all...Luke got lots of clothes, 2 pair of Nike's, toys and some movies!! Santa also left a monkey rug for the bathroom and a "forehead" thermometer for Mommy and Luke.
Luke, Grandpa and teddy bear...Mommy, Memaw and Grandpa got lots of nice gifts from everyone, too.

We also had a WHITE CHRISTMAS!! Luke loves being outside and in the snow was no different...he would have stayed out there all day, if we would have let him!

Saturday morning I took Luke to Breakfast with Santa at a friend's school. I wasn't sure how it was going to go. For starters, he's cutting his back teeth and has been incredibly fussy!!! Therefore, neither of us got much sleep the night before! And, I wasn't sure if he would be scared of Santa or not. But...he did great! They had a whole little scene set up and Luke set in Santa's sleigh. He kept looking at Santa, trying to figure out who he was! It was cute. They got a few pictures of Luke looking at them and then, they got a sweet one of him and Santa looking at each other! (Sorry for the horrible picture quality...I had to take a picture of the pictures, so I could share them!)

Tonight Luke and I went to have our Christmas pictures done. I saw a family getting pictures done last week...in thier Christmas jammies!! I thought it was a cute idea, so we did the same thing. I can't believe that Christmas is almost here! I have our tree up and most of the presents wrapped and underneath. Thankfully, Luke hasn't messed with the presents much...but, he sure does love the ornaments! I bought new ornaments this year and they are plastic!!! But, I have had to take all of the ornaments off the bottom of the tree because he loves them sooo much!! We also have the outside decorated a little! I can't wait to take him to see Santa and get his picture made. I hope he will sit with Santa and not be scared...we will be doing that at Breakfast with Santa this weekend!! I'll let you know how it goes! Tonight we are going to have our family Christmas pictures done...pray they turn out cute! :)

Well, we did get some pictures while we were in Mississippi, but they weren't exactly what I wanted. I was wanting to get FAMILY pictures done...with EVERYONE in the pictures (the last ones were before Colby was a year old....before Cannon and Luke!). I have been talking about getting these done for 2 months now....and I will say that I AM NOT the reason they weren't taken. But...on a brighter note, we did get Memaw and Grandpa with all of their grandsons and pictures of the cousins together. We were worried that the boys wouldn't cooperate and want to take pictures, but they were awesome! Instead, the photographer was horrible! She took 2 different poses of the Grandparents and Grandkids, with about 3-5 shots of each pose. She only gave us ONE option to purchase....I don't know what happened with the rest (but, I will be emailing the company!). So...here are the few shots that we were able to choose from...

Yesterday was Luke's 1st Birthday Party! He had a blast! A few family members even drove the 3 hours from Oklahoma to celebrate with us (thanks Aunt Heather, Great Grandma, Aunt Sue and cousins Lacie and Brett). Thank you to all of our family and friends that came to party with Luke. Luke was once again spoiled with many wonderful presents. He loves all of his presents and has already been playing with many of the toys, even though he wasn't very interested in opening them! He wanted to bounce in the bounce house and walk around! Luke received his first REAL set of golf clubs from his Memaw and Grandpa...the bag even has his name embroidered on it! He received some big trucks to push around, Scout the dog, a pounding nail/hammer toy, lots of clothes and many other cool toys. Here are some pictures from the party!

I can't believe that this time last year we were in the hospital and you were just hours old. You were such a tiny little baby and now you've grown into such a cute little boy! I have loved every second of being your mommy and can't wait for many more years to come. I can't believe how many "firsts" you've had this year....teeth, sitting up, talking/babbling, crawling, walking, climbing, eating big people food, plane rides, vacations, car trips and so many more. In the past month, you've began walking..and getting quite good at it. You've also started feeding yourself with a fork....you pretty much will only eat whatever you can feed yourself! Some of your favorite foods are chicken nuggets, carrots, bananas and mandarian oranges. You love Mickey Mouse and like to play with any ball or car/truck! You are still wearing size 3 diapers and are now wearing 18 month clothes and size 4-5 shoes. I hope you have a wonderful birthday!!

Today was Luke's 1st Halloween. He didn't really know what was going on, but he dressed up anyways! He was the cutest little sock monkey. He didn't go trick or treating since he didn't really understand, but we did go to a Halloween party at a friend's house. We have been so busy the last few days! Memaw and Grandpa made it in on Thursday afternoon. Luke was so happy to see them (and so was Mommy!). He just looked at them both, back and forth. On Saturday was the Fall Carnival at Mommy's school. Luke wore his Halloween costume (a sock monkey!!!) for a little while, but it was too hot to keep it on long! Luke played a few games and saw a few animals at the petting zoo. His favorite part of the whole night was eating his first sucker....he loved it...and made quite a mess!!This afternoon we went back to the Petting Farm/Pumpkin Patch that we went to a few weeks ago. This time it wasn't muddy and Luke could walk!! Luke is not afraid of animals at all...he loved to touch/pet them! Luke even got to ride on the "wild" hay ride this time!

Bronchitis

Yep, Luke has bronchitis! He woke up at 4:15 AM with a high fever and was warm all over. I gave him motrin and got the temp. down, but he also had a horrible cough and rough breathing. Other than that, he has been acting normal...eating, walking all over, playing, and laughing. We got an appointment this morning to see Dr. Hunke and he said his ears looked good and so did his throat, but he could hear some rattling in his lungs. So....bronchitis is the diagnosis!! Luke has some medicine to take for the next 4 days and I think I'm going to go and get some Robitussin to help with his cough. He starts to cry everytime he coughs...poor thing. I hope he gets over this quickly....he has to be well when Memaw and Grandpa get here this weekend!!!

Luke is WALKING!!! Saturday night he let go of the recliner and walked all the way to the kitchen gate...which is quite a little walk for someone who hasn't taken more than about 5 steps! I about fell of the couch...I couldn't believe it!!! I went to get his bottle a little while later and watched, he did it again! On Sunday, he would try to walk...A LOT...but, would fall after a few steps. But, still, this was progress. Before he never wanted to let go and TRY! Today, he must have really watched the girls at the babysitters and decided that he could do it, too! We came home and he has been walking everywhere. And...I finally got it on video. Please ignore the toys and all of the things stacked up around the fireplace (Luke is a climber and I have to block it somehow!). This was the best and longest video that I got of him earlier. He walked from the recliner to the couch (for a break) and then walked to his room. Enjoy!!!

Woody Woodpecker

Luke loves to laugh! He has recently started laughing sorta like Woody Woodpecker. It's hilarious. He knows it makes people laugh, so when he gets attention for it, he keeps going! This afternoon I just happened to catch him doing it and he kept doing it while I recorded him. At the end he burped (you can't really hear it on here), which is why I started laughing!!

Today is the Red River Shootout...I can't wait for the day when I can take Luke to the Cotton Bowl! We will eat a some corndogs and funnel cakes and then watch some Sooner Football!! Today Mommy didn't have to work, so she decided to take Luke to the Green Meadows Farm/Pumpkin Patch!! It was very dreary looking outside and VERY muddy!! Weekend in Oklahoma

This weekend Luke and I took off early Friday and headed to Oklahoma....for the big Central High Homecoming!! My dear friend Sonya's oldest was a homecoming candidate, so we went to support her and see her in her beautiful dress. Luke also got to see lots of mommy's old friends and teachers. Such an exciting night....and the Bronchos won!!

On Saturday, we mostly hung out at Aunt Heather's. We did go out and surprise Luke's Great Grandma. She had no idea we were coming to town and was very surprised to see us walk through the door! Aunt Sue and Lacie also came to Grandma's to see Luke (and Aunt Pam just happened to show up!). Aunt Sue was determined to get Luke to walk. The only thing she got, was Luke mad! He didn't want to walk and finally started puckering up and crying!!! But, Luke did have fun playing with Lacie. We left Grandma's so we could go home and watch the OU game. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I only got to see the first half....Luke wouldn't go to sleep, so I layed down in bed with him and we both fell asleep!!! I woke up to find out OU had lost by 1. Darn!

11 Months Old

Where has the time gone? I can't believe my "baby" is almost a year old. I'm looking forward to your 1st Halloween this month and then...your 1st birthday party!! You are still not walking, but you are standing more on your own for longer periods of time. You have tried to take a step or two, but just aren't so sure about it. You love to walk around the house with your walking toy but you just don't want to try without it, yet!! You LOVE to play ball!! You will sit and play catch forever (I hope this means you will be a ball player!!). You also really like your stacking rings and books. You are always on the go! This morning when I tried to get your picture with your monkey, I had to take several shots because you didn't want to sit still!! I am so glad that God let me be your mommy. You are the best little boy ever!!

Flu Shot

Yesterday Luke got the second half of his flu shot. Poor guy...he was all happy and smiling and then all of a sudden the lady stuck him in the leg! He didn't start wailing...it was more of a wimper and he had the funniest look on his face. He cried for a few minutes and then was okay. After we got home, the UPS man delievered us a package from guess who??....Memaw and Grandpa!!! Yes, I said "US" because there were some things in there for me this time, too!! Luke got some new pj's and clothes. Then, of course, there were several special things! Here are the pictures...

1. I went to a small country school from 1st grade-12th. At that time, everything was in one building with 3 different hallways (one was Elementary, one was the Jr. High wing and the other was the HS wing). And...I only had 19 in my graduating class!!! I loved the small school/family atmosphere.2.I was in FFA during High School....and showed sheep!! To this day, I hate sheep and will not use JOY dish soap!
3. I love to read! Unfortunately, since Luke has been born, I've only been able to start and finish 1 book.
4. I have many, many, many pictures framed around my house! Since I live far away from family and friends, I like to have reminders and see their "faces" constantly! Plus, Luke needs to see these pictures as he grows up.
5. I've met OJ Simpson! So, this may not be the greatest thing....but, I still think it's cool. We were headed to a NASCAR race in South Carolina and met him in the airport at Charolette. My Grandma didn't believe us until we showed her the picture of me and my dad with OJ.
6. I love sports! I really miss following my brother and watching him play...so many wonderful memories! Now, I have to settle for going to professional games or watching them on tv. I can't wait until Luke gets to start playing!! :) I'm going to be the best baseball mom ever!!!
7. I love holidays! I'm so excited that I get to decorate for Christmas for Luke. I am also looking forward to playing Santa, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, etc.

Halloween Sneak Peek

Tonight I finally got Luke's costume! I had seen it online and in some catalogs....but, I finally found it in a store and bought it! I CAN NOT WAIT FOR HIM TO DRESS UP FOR HALLOWEEN!!! Now, I'm just praying he will be walking...it won't be near as fun if I have to carry him! Oh, wait...I didn't tell you what the costume was! Well....I'm not going to....NOT YET!! Luke Got Mail!

Today Luke received a surprise package from Memaw and Grandpa. Inside were several cool things (and even something for Mommy): a new pair of pajamas, a new shirt, a few small basketballs, Luke sized pumpkins...

and the most special gift....a jacket made by Memaw! It is the cutest jacket that Mommy has ever seen and she can't wait for it to get cool enough for Luke to wear it. It was hard to get a picture of the jacket on Luke because he won't sit still!! But....here it is!!!

Yucky Bug!

Well...it took Luke a little over 10 months, but his first little bug has hit! Let me just recap our night/morning for you! Last night Luke seemed fine. We were eating dinner and while he took a drink, he started coughing/choking...kinda like when we drink and it goes down the wrong pipe. So, I lifted his arm, and all of a sudden, it was like a water facuet. He started spewing everywhere....GROSS!! I get him out of the high chair, get his clothes off and put him in the bathtub to get cleaned up. I thought everything was a-ok! Well, he threw up a little bit on the floor later, but it wasn't much. As I was cleaning it up, the faucet turned on again....all over my clean little boy AND the carpet. I cleaned him all up again and put new jammies on. I decided to give him some pedialyte since he had thrown everything up. I wanted to keep him hydrated. Well, wouldn't you know....he threw up all the pedialyte!!! Another pair of jammies!! Luke and I were both miserable! I couldn't get him to go to sleep, so we tried laying in my bed and the recliner. I finally got him to sleep about 1:30 or so. This morning, I gave him a little formula and some toast for breakfast. He seemed fine. So, we got all dressed and headed to the babysitters and work. Well....we got about a mile down the road and he threw up everywhere in the car!!! What a mess!! I called work and told them I wouldn't be making it! I just talked to the doctors office and they said I was doing everything right...yeah for me! He is only allowed to have pedialyte and I'm to give a little bit every 30 minutes or so. He's kept it down so far....so, let's pray that it stays down. She said "the bug" usually lasts from 24-48 hours. Oh, and let me just mention....this kid does not act sick. Luke has been talking up a storm, playing, laughing, watching tv and pushing his toys all over the house.
Since I gave you all the nasty details of our last 18 hours, I'll leave you with some pictures of my wonderful little man!

Today Luke is celebrating his 1st Grandparent's Day...we only wish Memaw and Grandpa were here to celebrate with him! He (and mommy, too) is so ready for them to get back from Ohio!!! Thank goodness they will be here in a little over a month (we haven't seen them since July)!

And chocolate fudge sundaes, with cherries on top.
And popcorn and peanuts and grape soda pop.

Snot Boy

Luke has had a horrible runny nose for the past few days. I'm guessing it's just allergies or the weather changing, because otherwise, he acts normal! But....he does HATE having his nose wiped! I wish this runny nose would hurry and run somewhere else, because I'm tired of fighting him to wipe it! 10 Months Old

Today my sweet baby boy is 10 months old! He is growing so fast! It's hard to believe that he will be a year old in just 2 short months. Of course, I already have his birthday party all figured out and most of the decorations bought! :) In the past month: his 8th tooth has finally broken through, he LOVES to eat big people food, he started sleeping through the night again!, has been standing on his own for just a few seconds and then sits down, climbs and/or crawls into EVERY cabinet or drawer that he can, babbling more (he's said momma a few times!),and he's started drinking a little bit of real milk! Luke is now wearing 12-18 month clothes and still wearing size 3 diapers. I LOVE BEING LUKE'S MOMMY!!

I have been really bad in the past few weeks with posting (thanks to schools starting again!). So, I've tried to make up for it in the last few days! :) Today I bought Luke a new toy (can I just go to the store once without buying something for Luke???). There isn't a lot of room in the living room, but he tried it out anyways. I then decided to take it to the backyard, but it wouldn't push in the grass...so, we ended up in the drive way. Luke looks so funny walking around with the toy! I can't believe he will soon be walking without it!

After walking for a little bit, I decided to put Luke in his swing. He loves swinging...he cracks up laughing while he's swinging. He loves the outdoors. I think he would stay out there all day, if he could. Thankfully, today the weather isn't scorching and we could enjoy the outdoors for a little while.

Bath Time

Luke loves bath time! He loves playing with his rubber duckies (which of course, are sports duckies!) and he loves to splash! Today I bought him a "big boy" towel. He was getting way too big for the baby towel and I found the perfect one at Kohl's!

9 Month Check-up

Yesterday was Luke's 9 Month Check-up. He did great! Luke now weighs 20 lbs 5 oz and is 28 1/2 inches long!!! And...as Dr. Hunke checked his teeth, his 8th tooth has finally broken through!!! Can you believe my little baby is so big and has so many teeth??? Dr. Hunke also said that I could start adding a little whole milk to his day....that means one less bottle of formula (he will get real milk with his breakfast!)!! I can't wait to get completly on whole milk and save the formula money!! Luke did have a little bit of a diaper rash that just appeared and the Dr. said it was a yeast rash, so he gave us a prescription for it. It already looks better this morning!! And....unfortunatley, we didn't get to go shot free this visit. :( Luke got his first flu shot (he has to go back in a month to get the other half). He did really good, though...he only cried for a few seconds! He also had an anemia test to check his blood. He scored high and there are no problems there!! I'm so thankful to have such a healthy and happy boy!

Busy, Busy, Busy

We've been so busy lately, that I haven't had time to post! And...there really hasn't been anything exciting to blog about! Luke is getting bigger and bigger everyday! And...SMARTER!! I think I have the smartest baby on Earth! It fascinates me how I can do something and he immediately imitates me. Weekend

This past weekend was a busy one! On Thursday night, Luke went to Chuck E. Cheese for a birthday party. He had a blast riding some of the kiddie rides and eating pizza...yes, he did eat a little bit of pizza!On Friday morning, we got up and drove to Okla for the weekend. Friday night, Aunt Heather, Nicholas, Luke and Mommy went to visit Great Grandma and Aunt Sue. Thank you Aunt Sue for letting Luke go swimming in your pool (see the post below for a video of Luke swimming).

On Saturday, Luke went to see some of Mommy's long time friends (who are really family!). Luke had a great time swimming with Ashlee and Shane and all of the kids!! Thanks for letting us come and hang out!!
Then, we went to the Rodeo on Sat. night!!! Luke watched the first part of the rodeo and was even "yelling" during part of it. But, after awhile, he had had enough...and was ready to go! Actually, he was really tired and just wanted to go to bed. So, unfortunately, Mommy and Luke had to leave early. And...Mommy forgot to take the camera in to the rodeo...so, no pictures!

Today Luke is 9 months old!!! I can't believe that 9 months ago I was holding a little 6 lb 6 oz baby boy in the hospital! He has definatley grown!! I'm not sure how much he weighs now, but I know that it is around 20 lbs. When he came home from the hospital, 0-3 month clothes were too big...now, he wears 12 month clothes!!!

Luke can now walk around everything, he loves to crawl into and under things, LOVES to shut his bedroom door, and loves to pull wires from the walls!!! Luke has also gotten a new tooth in the past month and has 2 more ready to come through! Here is his 9 month sock money pic...

I have finished rearranging Luke's room...for now!. Memaw and Grandpa bought Luke a cradle that turns into a loveseat!!! I finally got it out of my room (he hasn't been in it since he was 4 mo. old) and converted it to the loveseat and put it in his room. I left the bumper pad on it to make it cushiony (is that a word?) and put some of his stuffed animals on it. I know that he can't sit on it now....who knows, he will probably be trying to climb up into it!, but I wanted to get it in his room (and out of mine!!).
